A: Yes, with proper home care and if needed proper restorative care, it is possible to keep all of your teeth for the rest of your life.

Q: What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A: A crown is a restoration that is used to restore strength to a tooth. they are very aesthetic and are used on teeth that are broken down due to decay or fracture.

A veneer is a porcelain facing that is bonded to the outer surface of the tooth. Veneers are mainly used for cosmetic reasons and are very durable in normal day to day function. They are used to repair chipped or fractured teeth, to correct internal or external staining on teeth, and to correct minor rotations and tilting of teeth if orthodontics is not desired.

Q: What is Periodontal Disease?

A: “Periodontal” comes from two Greek words that mean “around the tooth.” All are started by a bacterial infection which attacks the gums, bone and ligaments that support the teeth and hold them in the jaw. Periodontal diseases are usually painless, and may develop slowly or progress quite rapidly. Unless you have regular dental checkups, you may not be aware you have a periodontal disease until your gums and bone have been so seriously damaged that tooth loss is inevitable

Q: What are sealants?

A: A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth – premolars and molars. This plastic resin bonds into the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the chewing surfaces of back teeth. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Q: Could whitening damage my teeth?

A: There is no damage in whitening. However, it can make your teeth a little sensitive to cold during the process.
